well,
i was recently convinced by someone to try out reading Kafka and knowing my nature of constantly searching for meaning, I couldn't resist. Life, with all its complexities and questions, often leaves one wondering about the deeper truths (if there are any) that shape our existence. As my ChatGPT had to say- “Kafka’s writing has its own strange blend of reality and surrealism”, which seemed like the perfect lens through which I would have loved to examine these thoughts.
As I delved into his works, I realized that Kafka’s exploration of alienation, bureaucracy, and the search for self felt eerily familiar. Kafka’s works are more than just stories; they’re a mirror reflecting our struggles and aspirations in a world that often seems equally baffling.
As I read through his works, I began to see how Kafka's ideas about isolation, systems, and the search for identity still connects with our world today. Even after a century, his words resonate deeply with the world we live in today, where questions about identity, purpose, and freedom continue to haunt us. Kafka’s stories seem to echo like a mirror reflecting our questions and struggles making it a timeless (maybe)..
Why Kafka this time?
why Kafka and not anyone else. well he is very familiar to what the society is today. Even after a decade of decades people still face similar issues considering the rise in mental health problems.
honestly, something that utterly felt similar to this date was the when i tried studying his lifetime. will talk about it on Friday (29th Nov, 2024).
btw till then maybe try out reading the story of Kafka once going to the garden and seeing a girl loose her doll. (knew this story from way back but didn’t realize until recently that it was Kafka).
(i don’t agree on a few things Kafka says but we always have a lot to learn)..
take care,
Arka
